Ms. Fleet and some of her fellow media specialists were fortunate enough to have floor seats on Thursday, September 27, when author and poet Maya Angelou spoke to a sold-out crowd at The Forum in Rome. Ms. Angelou amused, entertained, and inspired her audience with stories of her family and her many adventures throughout her long life. She admonished her listeners to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud–to brighten someone’s day because you never know what they may be going through. The crowd, which included many students from Rome colleges and high schools, was very receptive to Ms. Angelou’s message of racial harmony, courage, and the power of one person to change the world.

Please see Mrs. Fleet for suggestions about how we can celebrate Teen Read Week at YOUR Unquiet Library.
