DCSS: Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl DeKalb County Schools via kwout

Did any of you Bibliophiles participate in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl when you were in elementary school or middle school? Have you read several of the Georgia Peach Book Award nominees? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then WE NEED YOU! We are trying to form a Reading Bowl team, and we need at least five members in order to compete. Each school in the county will have a team, and then there will be a competition among the county teams. The top two teams in the county will go on to compete in the district competition. From there, the winner will contend with other winners around the state in the state competition. You need to have read a minimum number of the twenty Georgia Peach Book Award nominees in order to participate in January. Dekalb County has a great website for the competition if you want to learn more, or check with Mrs. Fleet or Mrs. Frost. Click here to see a PowerPoint of the 2008-2009 Peach Book Award nominees. The books are on display in the  media center if you are interested, so come by and check out one today. Or a few!
