Is TypoGenerator Your Type?

Posted by blatantbibliophiles on March 11, 2008

Typo Generator

Have you tried Typo Generator? If not, then you are definitely not in the cool. Typo Generator lets you make wild graphics with letters and numbers; then you can save them as picture files to upload to your blogs, social networking sites like MySpace or FaceBook, or other websites. Just type in the letters and/or numbers you want to use, then click on “Generate New.” Don’t like what you see? Then check “Destroy” to change the text style, colors, and/or background. Then check “Try Again.” You can try again all day and all night if you have the stamina. Once you’re satisfied, just right click on your graphic to save it as a picture file, then upload it to your desired location. Voila! You have a beautarific design like the one you see in front of you! Some kinda fun, huh?

Books Rock!

Posted by blatantbibliophiles on February 12, 2008

Check out the cool graphic I made on ImageChef! You simply must try it immediately! There are lots of cool graphics and animations; all you have to do is type in your own expression and ImageChef does the rest. You can create a card, send an email, or post to your blog, MySpace, FaceBook, or practically anywhere. How cool is that? Be patient, because sometimes the post takes a while; emails seem to go faster. I also couldn’t get animations to post to WordPress, but they worked fine as an email.

Let’s Start Our Own LibraryThing!

Posted by blatantbibliophiles on October 30, 2007

Reading

Back before Oprah launched her book club in 1996, many people outside of public library patrons had never heard of them. Now people who had never even read a book before are avid bibliophiles like us. A study by scholars Ribovich and Erickson reported in Library Media Connection showed that lifelong readers usually develop their love of reading before they become adults. Book clubs are a great way to become more involved in reading! Since we haven’t been able to come to a consensus about a book to read together, why don’t we submit online reviews of the books we have read recently? Whenever you read a good book, submit a comment to this post so other bibliophiles can read it and maybe they will want to read the book also. Ms. Fleet will also set up a new LibraryThing account just for the Blatant Bibliophiles. See Ms. Fleet for the user name and password. Whenever you read a book, you can post it on the Blatant Bibliophile Library Thing account. Each account will only hold 200 books. Can we reach 200 books before school is out? By the way, have you checked out Ms. Fleet and Ms. Hamilton’s Library Thing account? There is also a link on the sidebar of the Blatant Bibliophile Blog.

The Return of Trivia!

Posted by blatantbibliophiles on October 26, 2007

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Bibliophiles and other members of the intelligentsia gathered in the Unquiet Library today to match wits against each other in the second round of Grizzly Trivia. While all teams provided some amazing answers, there had to emerge a winner in each lunch group. The fourth period winners were The Blue Goats, consisting of Brett, Justin, Jake, and Sky. Team Guee, Requiem, The Plethora of Plebian Pineapples, The Mind Freaks, and last month’s winners, Ricky Bobby, were edged out. In fifth period lunch, The Ragin’ Cajuns were victorious, with team members Josh, Allen, Justin, Nathan, Thanos, and Zack narrowly destroying The Haminators and The Sassy Six. In sixth period lunch, Team Whatchaka-Wi-Woo was dealt a narrow defeat by Team X-Treme, composed of Kristen, Kinley, Kayla, Laura, Kuwanda, and Trianna. This month’s winners will be treated to a pizza party during their lunch period on November 5! Trivia lovers take note: we will be hosting our first afternoon trivia on Monday, November 5. There will be three rounds, at 4PM, 5PM, and 6PM. Students, parents, and staff are invited to attend. Please sign up in the media center as soon as possible if you plan to participate.

31 Flavorite Authors Ice Cream Sundae Party

Posted by blatantbibliophiles on October 25, 2007

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The Blatant Bibliophiles Book Club and the Live Poet Society Poetry Club celebrated Teen Read Week and the 31 Flavorite Authors of October with an ice cream sundae bar today in The Unquiet Library. Chocolate and vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, M&Ms, candy corn (it is October, after all!), Hershey’s Kissables, cherries, and sprinkles provided enough carbs to give us a sugar rush for days! How long until the next celebration?

31 Flavorite Authors Day 18: Rachel Cohn

Posted by blatantbibliophiles on October 18, 2007

Rachel Cohn is sooooo popular with all our Creekview girls for her great teen books like Gingerbread, Cupcake, and Shrimp featuring fun character Cyd Charisse. Rachel’s latest book, with author David Levithan, Naomi & Ely’s No Kiss List, is sure to be a favorite. She also has a new title coming out in March 2008 called You Know Where To Find Me, which is darker than her previous work. You can find Rachel at http://www.rachelcohn.com/ or http://myspace.com/rachel_cohn.
