Mrs. Anne

On Wednesday, October 10, Mrs. Anne Christopher of Rome passed away at the age of 112. Mrs. Christopher was the grandmother of media specialist Harriett Brock, long-time friend of Mrs. Fleet. Mrs. Christopher was a former teacher and an avid reader. She taught generations of students in South Carolina before moving to Georgia five years ago, where she was known in the Rome area for being the oldest resident of the state of Georgia. She was able to live independently and read constantly until she was 111 years old. At the time of her death, Mrs. Christopher was the eleventh-oldest documented person in the world! To read more about Mrs. Christopher, see this article in the Rome News. Do you think that all that reading kept her going all those years? How many books do you think she read in 112 years?
